NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- The city is accepting applications from restaurants to participate in Dining Out NYC, a permanent outdoor dining program, Mayor Eric Adams announced Tuesday.
The online portal will allow interested applicants to sign up for the program, understand outdoor dining guidelines, and access sample blueprints on what an outdoor setup needs to look like.
Adams said that the program draws on the successes of the temporary outdoor dining program created during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The portal we’re opening today will make it easy for restaurants to participate in Dining Out NYC, build setups that work for diners, owners, neighbors, and our city, and continue to hire workers and serve satisfied customers," said Mayor Adams. "We’ve locked in the best parts of the pandemic program and done away with the worst, and I can’t wait to dine out this summer!”
Restaurants that are currently in the temporary program must apply to the permanent program by Aug. 3, 2024, to "continue operating throughout the approval process," city officials said. Those not interested in applying have to remove their current outdoor dining setups.
The first wave of approved Dining Out NYC setups is expected to debut in the summer.
