BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The Bronx is home to the city’s most and least affordable zip codes, according to a new study from American Home Shield.
The home warranty company compared each neighborhood's median house price with the local median household income to determine how affordable a given zip code is – and found parts of the Bronx sat at both extremes.
The borough’s Van Nest neighborhood, zip code 10462, was the most affordable in the city – but nearby Mott Haven was the city’s least affordable.
In Mott Haven, median home prices were a whopping 31.57 times the median household income, American Home Shield Found.
Zip codes in Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx were among some of the city’s most affordable – and one Manhattan neighborhood, Murray Hill, also ranked among New York City's 10 most affordable.
Neighborhoods like the Lower East Side, Tribeca, NoHo and East Harlem were among the city’s least affordable, with home prices sitting more than 20 times the median income.
New York state was home to the second-least affordable zip code in the country, second only to Beverly Hills, California.
