NYC DOE offers free early childhood education for kids of student-parents

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Student-parents in New York City may be eligible for free early childhood education for their kids.

The New York City Department of Education, with its Living for the Young Family Through Education program, helps kids of student-parents get a free education.

To be eligible, you need to be enrolled in or eligible for a DOE school or program, and the child must be 6 weeks to 4 years old, according to the city's website.

LYFE has over 30 locations in the five boroughs, with certified teachers, licensed social workers and trained paraprofessionals at each location.

You can apply online, by mail or in person, and services are free to all eligible families, regardless of immigration status, according to the program. You can learn more about the program here.
