NYC Councilman Brannan critical of initial budget cuts

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- New York City Council Finance Chair Justin Brannan was critical of Mayor Eric Adams' initial plan of major budget cuts across the board, saying they were not "necessary in the first place." Despite Mayor Adams reversing some of the cuts, including adding a new NYPD cadet class and restoring the fifth firefighter on FDNY shifts, Brannan said the initial cuts created "an awful 'us versus them' narrative and it wasn't necessary."
