NY, NJ temperatures warm up, rainy start to the week

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Sunday, clouds are on the increase and so are temperatures. Highs should reach near 40 degrees by the evening hours. 

Showers are expected late Sunday and throughout Monday. It will be milder on Monday with temperatures right around 50.

Tuesday will warm up to around 60 degrees with lingering showers that should clear out by the afternoon hours. A record temperature of 62 degrees could be broken. 

Wednesday is also expected to be on the warmer side with highs in the upper 40s. A shower chance remains for Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures cooling back down to the mid-40s. 

Friday is back to chilly temperatures in the upper 30s with potential snow on the way, which could continue into next weekend.
