Panaji/Vasco:Colvale police
on Friday registered its first FIR in the
cash-for-jobs scam
against
Uma Patil
, who was arrested on Wednesday by
Vasco police
along with her son Shivam.
In her complaint to the Colvale police,
Ujwala Siddesh
, 44, a resident of Revora, said that Uma allegedly duped her of Rs 4 lakh in July 2020 after promising to arrange a govt job for her husband.
Uma, who is a resident of Baina and operates a school bus service, now has four cases of cheating against her. Since she is suspected to have swindled many more people, there are likely to be more FIRs against her in the days to come.
“Many people who fell prey to Uma’s promises of jobs are now coming forward to register complaints. Her arrest has opened a Pandora’s box,” said Vasco PI, Kapil Nayak.
Vasco police had previously filed a chargesheet against Uma in the court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Vasco, in connection with another
cheating case
.
A second FIR of cheating was filed by the Vasco police against Uma on Wednesday, and yet another, on Thursday.
Late Friday evening, Vasco police registered a complaint against
Diksha Talavanekar
of Headland Sada for duping Baina resident Mina Chodankar of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of providing her a peon’s job at a school in Vasco.
