NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – For this week only, your ride to work will be free on NJ Transit.
The transportation system will be completely free between Aug. 26 and Sept. 2, meaning customers do not need to purchase or show tickets during the week, Governor Phil Murphy announced earlier this month.
For riders who already purchased a monthly pass for August, September monthly passes will have a 25% discount.
The fare holiday is a “thank you” for customers’ ridership while the system has seen significant delays and service issues over the last few months, according to NJ Transit.
“The fare holiday is a gesture of sincere appreciation for our customers’ continued loyalty and patronage, especially during a period when the service has not consistently met their expectations or our own,” representatives of NJ Transit said. “We recognize the impacts these service issues have had over the past few months and remain committed to improving the travel experience for our customers.”
