NJ shelter offers to name feral cat after your ex and neuter them for Valentine's Day

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A New Jersey animal shelter is offering a light-hearted way to get over your ex this upcoming Valentine's Day.

The Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center will name a feral cat after your ex and neuter or spay them for a $50 donation. In a promotional poster for the event, the shelter said, "Because some things shouldn't breed."

The cat will then be released as part of the shelter's trap-neuter-return program. The program helps control the feral cat population by stopping the breeding cycle, according to the shelter.

"Donated! The real guy deserves to be neutered, but a cat with his name will do lol," Instagram user gush.and.go commented on the shelter's post for the promotion.

The promotion is similar to others created by animal shelters to raise money tied to Valentine's Day. A shelter in Rhode Island will write your ex's name on a piece of paper and put it in a litter box for $5.
