NJ medical center celebrates Leap Day babies

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey is celebrating the birth of its first baby born on Leap Day in 2024.

Ivanna was born at 12:21 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 inches long, according to the medical center.

‘Leaplings’: Family has three children all born on separate Leap Days

The chances of being born on Feb. 29 are 1 in 1,461. Making it even more special is that Ivanna was born on her due date, which is only about a 5% chance.

She was the first of seven Leap Day babies born at the medical center on Thursday, with seven more expected, according to the hospital.
