RUTHERFORD, N.J. (PIX11) -- Don't forget about the boys. A Rutherford church is looking for donations of tuxedos, suits, and ties, as well as prom dresses, high heels, handbags and jewelry for Grace's Closet.
It's the third year that the Grace Episcopal Church is hosting two giveaways of free formal wear.
"Everyone loves to go to their prom or their Sweet 16, and times today, they can't afford the formal attire ... so we thought we can be the conduit of kindness," the church pastor, Rev. Karen Rezach, told PIX11 News.
Organizer Susan Muller told PIX11 News that last year, they could fully dress about a dozen boys. This year, they prioritized gathering more men's clothes, adding, "The boys have a chance here."
"We love to see be able to see our teen boys be able to dress as well and feel good about themselves as well," volunteer Sharon Bell said.
As for the dresses available for the giveaway.
"Some of these dresses coming in are brand new, tags, $300, $400, $600. We actually had some designer gowns that are over $1,000," Bell said.
The two giveaways will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 and Saturday, March 9, at Grace's Closet, located at the church at 128 W. Passaic Avenue in Rutherford.
It's first come, first served. There are dressing rooms to try on the formal wear before selecting one to bring home.
If you'd like to donate before March 9, you can find more information at gracesclosetrutherford.org/donate.
