VARANASI: The charm of Banarasi sarees and mouthwatering 'chaat' captivated

, who was on a visit to Varanasi on Monday to pay obeisance at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and invite guests for the wedding of her son, Anant Ambani.
She also donated Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1 crore to Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Maa Annapurna Temple, respectively, and participated in the Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Nita Ambani offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and extended the invitation of her son Anant's wedding to the deity. Later, she attended Ganga Aarti and spent some time at the banks of the holy river. She also savoured local delicacies at a 'chaat' outlet in Dashashwamedh area.
She visited the house of a weaver, Vijay Maurya, in Ramnagar to see the saree being made and enquired about the material being used in the saree.
Earlier, she called various businessmen and artisans of Banaras at a hotel and booked orders for sarees from different weavers.
"She selected our 'lakkha buti' saree which is made with traditional 'kadhua' technique," said Angika Kushwaha, a saree manufacturer from Ramnagar. Her father and chairman of Uttar Pradesh Industrial Cooperative Association, Amresh Kushwaha, said that Nita Ambani ordered over a hundred sarees of different patterns from weavers for the wedding ceremony.
