UTTARKASHI: In a bid to support
financially underprivileged
yet
talented individuals
aspiring to become mountaineers and pursue self-employment in the field, the
Nehru Institute of Mountaineering
(NIM) will initiate a
scholarship program
starting next year.
For this program, NIM has recently signed an MoU with Dr Liladhar Bhatt Memorial Kalyan Samiti (DLDMKS) - a social welfare organisation based in Champawat.
As per NIM officials, the program will annually award scholarships of Rs 25,000 each to four trainees—two from the Advance Mountaineering Course (AMC) and two from the Method of Instruction (MOI) courses—upon completion of their training. The selection will be based on the trainees' overall performance, encompassing practical skills, theoretical knowledge, conduct, and other criteria during the course.
Col Anshuman Bhadauria, Principal of NIM, said, "This initiative will prove beneficial for aspiring mountaineers who face financial challenges in pursuing their passion due to financial constraints."
