NIA court frames charges against 9 for beheading Rajasthan tailor

JAIPUR: A special

NIA court

in Jaipur on Tuesday framed

charges

against nine accused in the

beheading

of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal.
Two cleaver wielding men, Gaus Mohammad and Mohammad Riyaz, had entered Kanhaiya Lal's shop masquerading as customers and hacked him to death on June 22, 2022, for a social media post supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's comments on Prophet Mohammad.

They also shot a video of the ghastly act and posted it online.
The other accused include Mohsin Khan, Asif Hussain, Wasim Ali, Mohammad Javed, Muslim Khan, Mohammad Mohsin and Farhad Mohammad Sheikh alias Babla. Sheikh was granted bail last year.
Charges were framed against the accused for murder under IPC section 302 and provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act, said Minhaz ul-Haq, counsel for six of the nine accused.
Multiple other IPC sections, including 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 452 (trespassing) were also slapped against the accused.
