The Los Angeles Rams were very judicious with their draft picks in 2025. While none of the players are flashy, they all have traits and skillsets the Rams like in players, which could help them find early work on either side of the ball early in their careers.
CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso went through the rookies taken after Day 1 from the NFC who could earn roles quickly this season. And while the Rams have a few options, Trapasso ended up picking running back Jarquez Hunter for L.A. because of who he played similarly too in college and how easy it could be for him to see touches.
"After thoroughly examining Hunter's film, advanced statistics at Auburn and combine workout, I felt I had no other choice but to compare him to… Kyren Williams," Trapasso wrote. "Now he's Williams' teammate in Los Angeles, and after a disappointing rookie season from Blake Corum, Hunter isn't that far from earning touches in Year 1.
"A compact, elusive runner who starred in all four seasons in the SEC, Hunter is the exact type of slasher head coach Sean McVay has traditionally loved in his zone-based scheme."
Hunter was one of the most explosive running backs in college and gives the Rams' ground game an element it didn't really have in 2024 with Williams and Corum. Both are good backs, but Hunter is a different speed threat that McVay may want to tap into early in the year to see what he has and keep opposing defenses on their toes.
