Candlelight concerts put classical and contemporary music in a whole new light.

Close to 5000 electronic candles illuminate the stage at Newark Symphony Hall as the Highline Quartet plays Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at 6:30 pm and then Coldplay at 9 PM.

“They are not real candles,” Branndon Howard, the event coordinator, told PIX11 News. “It’s a great ambiance, a perfect vibe to enjoy classical music,” he added.

More than 300 tickets have been sold for each performance here at Newark Symphony Hall.

The tickets range in price from $40-$100.

Candlelight concert was started by a company called Fever in Spain during the pandemic and has now grown worldwide. “It expands your taste buds, "Josh Cruz, lead producer, told PIX11 News.

“Not many of us listen to classical music, so it’s nice when you hear a tribute to Rihanna or Coldplay with a string Quartet to bridge that gap,” he added.

Upcoming Candlelight Concerts include “timeless composer” and a Taylor Swift tribute in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, next week.
