Newark Airport employee struck by vehicle on tarmac: officials

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) -- An employee at Newark Liberty International Airport was struck by a vehicle on the tarmac Monday evening, according to officials.

The ground crew member was servicing an Alaska Airlines flight when the ground vehicle struck them around 6:45 p.m., according to officials.

The worker was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to officials.

Additional information was not immediately available.

The flight took off from Newark for Portland around eight minutes early, according to Flight Aware.
