NEW YORK (PIX11) – New Yorkers are spending a pretty penny on food delivery in 2024 compared to last year, according to the city's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
Residents are paying 58% more in delivery fees than in 2023, data showed. It comes after the minimum wage for delivery workers was raised to $16 an hour in New York City.
Workers are also seeing a drop in tips by an average of $2.64, according to the administration.
Food deliveries, despite the fee increases, have jumped by more than 8% this year.
