NEW YORK (PIX11) – The Big Apple is the most picturesque city in the U.S., according to a new study from RubyHome Northwest.
Researchers analyzed over 895 million Instagram posts using location-specific hashtags for the 25 most populated cities in the U.S.
New York City topped the list with over 183.9 million posts, according to the study. The city saw 61.8 million travelers in 2023 alone, according to NYC Tourism + Conventions.
The study said the most popular hashtags used in the city are #nyc and #newyorkcity, which were used over 145.3 million times and 35.9 million times respectively. Some iconic locations include Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal and the Empire State Building.
The Empire State Building generated over 3 million hashtags alone, according to the study.
Los Angeles took second place in the ranking, with over 141 million Instagram posts. Chicago came in third with 60 million posts.
