New York City's dog parks rank in top 10 out of over 100 U.S. cities: report

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- New York City is among the best in the country when it comes to its dog parks, according to a new report from LawnStarter.

The report examined over 100 of the biggest cities in the United States. While the tri-state area is not heavily represented on the list, the report said the Big Apple ranks within the top 10.

LawnStarter looked at access to parks, park quality and climate. With an overall score of 51.61, New York City is ranked eighth behind cities like Tampa Bay, Fla. and Albuquerque, N.M.

New Jersey is first on the list at spot 81, with Jersey City scoring 31.22, according to the report. The Garden State rounds out the list, with Newark ranked 101st with a score of 12.36.

The top 10 cities with the best-ranked dog parks of 2024 are:

  1. Boise, Idaho - 71.09
  2. San Francisco - 68.75
  3. Portland, Ore. - 65.87
  4. Henderson, Nev. - 61.13
  5. Tampa Bay, Fla. - 58.35
  6. Arlington, Va. - 54.54
  7. Albuquerque, N.M. - 53.06
  8. New York - 51.61
  9. Las Vegas, Nev. - 51.48
  10. Sacramento, Calif. - 51.11
