New proposal aims to turn parking lots into affordable housing in Brooklyn

BOERUM HILL, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- From parking lots to affordable housing, New York City is taking proposals to build housing and community spaces on two Boerum Hill sites.

List: Several New York City apartments under $1,000 available in housing lottery

One lot is on Nevins St., and the other is on Third Ave. The sites are both owned by the city.

Monday night, the city asks developers and property managers about what could be built there.

Some residents said anything is better than parking lots.
