The results gathered immediate attention due to an unusually high number of candidates achieving a perfect score of 720/720. This year, a total of 67 examinees secured the top spot nationwide, all achieving All India Rank 1. This inflation in marks impact the ranking framework, which directly impacts students' admission prospects into government medical colleges.
NEET UG aspirants and parents launch satyagraha, demand re-exam from NTA
Students from various corners of India gathered at Jantar Mantar in the national capital to protest and start satyagraha against NTA. Parents from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan are sitting in scorching heat to demand justice for their wards.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET-UG) on June 4, a pivotal examination for admission to medical, dental, and AYUSH courses in both public and private institutions.
A parent from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, while talking with India Today said “we have come here to demand re-examination of NEET UG but not by NTA but by other organisation. NTA should be probed, and other trusted organisations should be roped in”. Parents are also demanding Apex Court to create a forum for students so that they can complain about alleged malpractices done by NTA.
A student also explained how grave marks have increased the ranking framework “ last year in same marks I would be getting a government college, but now my rank is to 28,000”.
“How can NTA probe itself when it is the real culprit”, he added.
The satyagraha got the support of NSUI and according to NSUI national president Varun Chaudhary, NDUI with NEET UG aspirants will move the supreme court against NTA.
