has been denied the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the
Pakistan Cricket Board
(
PCB
) to participate in
The Hundred
due to workload management, according to sources who spoke with Geo News.
The decision to refuse the NOC was made as a precaution, the sources said to Geo News, following their evaluation of the Pakistani cricket player's application.
According to the sources, Naseem's application was turned down in order to protect him from injuries because he was injured and had fitness issues the previous year, despite the fact that he plays for Pakistan in all three formats.
In October 2023, Naseem had surgery to address a shoulder problem. Owing to the surgery, he was unable to participate in the 2023 ICC World Cup, causing Pakistan to lose in the group stage.
Following his surgery, the physicians recommended that he take it easy and recover for four to six weeks before he returned to the field. He was out for a minimum of three to four months due to this injury.
In the upcoming months, Pakistan will participate in several very important
World Test Championship
matches. They will play Bangladesh in a two-match Test series that begins on August 21, as per ANI.
The head coach of Pakistan's red-ball team,
Jason Gillispie
, has already made hints about Shaheen Shah Afridi's potential absence from the series.
After getting married a year ago, Shaheen and Ansha are expecting their first child. He might miss the Test series against Bangladesh the following month as a result.
"Shaheen can miss Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then," said Pakistan's red-ball coach Jason Gillispie as quoted from Geo News.
November will see Pakistan play limited-over cricket again, this time against Australia, in addition to red-ball cricket.
