NEW DELHI: Tesla founder Elon Musk on Friday congratulated
Narendra Modi
on his alliance's
election victory
and indicated his interest to work in the country. "Congratulations Narendra Modi on your victory in the world's largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India," Musk said on X.
The comments came weeks after Musk postponed his India visit, where he was expected to discuss investments for a new Tesla facility to produce lower-cost vehicles for domestic market and exports.
The trip was announced by Musk after the Modi govt unveiled a new policy, allowing EV players to import cars at a lower duty but commit to invest within three years and source components locally. Musk had cited his other commitments to postpone his visit, but days later flew to China.
Officials, however, said that he also wanted the Indian govt to address his pending proposal for his satellite communication venture Starlink.
