Mumbai unveils its first elevated tree top walk at Malabar Hill; check timings and other details

In a recent development, Mumbai has showcased its first elevated nature trail at the Malabar Hill. The tree top is inspired by Singapore’s famous 'Tree Top Walk' and this pretty forest walkway offers a peaceful escape from the city, providing nature lovers with an exceptional opportunity to explore Mumbai’s green spaces. The walkway, which connects Kamala Nehru Park to the Doongerwadi woods.
Let’s find out more about the tree top:
1) Managed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the elevated walkway is designed to bring people closer to nature while preserving the environment's natural beauty. The 485-meter-long and 2.4-meter-wide trail is a lush pathway surrounded by a variety of trees, including Gulmohar, Almond, Jamun, and Banyan.
2) These trees not only add to the natural charm of the walkway but also support local wildlife, attracting birds like kingfishers, bulbuls, and parakeets. Visitors may also spot small reptiles, such as lizards and pythons, living in their natural habitat along the trail.

3) A major highlight of the walkway is its Sea Viewing Deck. From this vantage point, visitors are treated to stunning views of Mumbai’s coastline, including the picturesque Girgaon Chowpatty. Walking high above the forest canopy while gazing at the Arabian Sea creates a one-of-a-kind experience that is both serene and awe-inspiring.
4) One of the standout features of the Tree Top Walk is its eco-friendly design. The structure is built primarily from wood, with minimal use of concrete, allowing for the natural water flow of the hill to remain undisturbed. This design ensures that the wildlife movement is not interrupted, making it a sustainable addition to Mumbai's landscape.
5) The walkway also features a birdwatching area and a thrilling glass-bottom viewing deck that offers visitors a bird’s-eye view of the forest floor below.
6) The elevated nature trail is open daily from 5 AM to 9 PM, giving visitors plenty of time to experience the beauty of the walkway. Tickets can be easily booked online for convenient access.
7) The entry fees are ₹25 for Indian citizens and ₹100 for foreign nationals. The entry and exit points are located at Siri Road, behind Kamala Nehru Park, making the trail easily accessible to all.

9) Mumbai's first elevated nature trail is a delightful addition to the city’s green spaces, offering not just a relaxing walk but also an opportunity to raise awareness about environmental conservation.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, birdwatcher, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, this unique trail is a must-visit.
