AGRA: In a case similar to Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash's suicide, a 25-year-old man who worked as a manager at a Mumbai-based private company, Manav Sharma, ended his life in Agra after alleged harassment by his wife. Before hanging himself on February 24, he recorded a 6-minute and 57-second video expressing distress over his marriage.
In the video, Manav apologises to his parents and pleads for awareness of men's struggles, stating, "Please, someone should talk about men. They become very lonely."
Manav, a resident of Defense Colony, worked in Mumbai. His father, retired Air Force officer Narendra Sharma, reported that Manav married on January 30, 2024.
After an initially peaceful period, conflicts arose when his wife allegedly threatened false accusations and expressed interest in living with her boyfriend.
On February 23, Manav and his wife returned from Mumbai. Later, when he dropped her at her maternal home, he was reportedly threatened by her family. The next morning, he took his own life.
Despite the emotional video, police initially received no complaint. However, after a WhatsApp complaint from the family on Thursday night, police officials confirmed that a case is being registered and an investigation is ongoing.
