NEW DELHI: The
Rohit Sharma
mania took over the MYSI Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur as chants of 'Mumbai Cha Raja, Rohit Sharma' echoed around the stadium during the
Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians
thriller on Thursday.
And it was the
Sam Curran doppelganger
, who led the way, chanting the slogan praising Rohit as the spectators around, rallied behind him.
In a social media video that has gone viral, the Curran doppelganger can be seen having a blast along with other fans during the Punjab vs Mumbai game.
The Curran doppelganger has been a regular face in recent times during India international games and IPL matches.
He has a remarkable resemblance to Punjab Kings and England all-rounder Sam Curran, who was leading the hosts in Thursday's game in absence of regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan.
Ashutosh Sharma gave Mumbai a mighty scare with a sensational 61 before the five-time champions scraped through with a nine-run win over Punjab.
Ashutosh unleashed a flurry of sixes in his 28-ball knock which brought Punjab from the brink to near the finish line but his dismissal in the 18th over turned the game back in favour of MI.
Punjab, who were left tottering at 17/4 in their chase of 193 , came back roaring through Ashutosh and Shashank Singh (41 off 25) before ending at 183 all-out in 19.1 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav (78) starred with the bat for Mumbai to take them to 192 for seven.
It was Mumbai's third win in seven games while Punjab's slide continued with their fifth loss in seven matches.
