The 19 staff members are each responsible for stations in certain areas of the system.

The open meetings will be scheduled twice a month during the morning and evening rush hours at different locations.

Riders hope their concerns are addressed.

"I think it’s important for people to have someone to vent to but at the same time some of these things and delays are unavoidable," said a rider named Eimear.

Cherry Wiltshire is the group manager at Hudson Yards on the 7 line. She has 31 years with New York City Transit.

"We apologize and we let them know we are sorry. We try to get them an alternate route to get safely to their destination. I love working in the field and helping customers," said Wiltshire.

Demetrius Crichlow is the current subways vice president.  He will become the interim president of transit next week when Rich Davey, the current cheif, leaves for a new job in Massachusetts.

He says the focus will be on the core elements of safety and service and he will draw on his decades of service.

“If you had told me 27 years ago that I’d be standing here I would say no I started out digging ditches and climbing poles,” said Crichlow.

Officials praised transit workers and their day to day commitment to operations.

Office hours will be posted and advertised.
