NEW DELHI: MS Dhoni's popularity has not diminished a bit despite not being a Chennai Super Kings skipper in fact his craze among the fans is soaring to new heights.

In the IPL 2024, the broadcasters have come up with a new feature to gauge the excitement level of a player or a match moment by quantifying the decibel level of crowd cheers.

And it is the testament to Dhoni's unmatched popularity by claiming the top two spots in the decibel level chart of crowd cheers.

Star Sports on Friday unveiled the data showcasing the highest decibel levels recorded at an IPL venue during matches, with two of Dhoni's standout moments making the list.

Dhoni's arrival for the toss against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk in the season opener topped the chart with a decibel level of 130.

The decibel level of 128 was recorded when Dhoni smashed a boundary in the 17th over against Delhi Capitals during his unbeaten 16-ball 37 cameo. It marked Dhoni's first innings with the bat since the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans. Despite Dhoni's efforts, CSK ultimately lost the match by 20 runs.

Ranked third on the list is Dinesh Karthik's pre-planned scoop shot off Arshdeep Khan during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's chase against Punjab Kings.

Dhoni surprised the cricketing world ahead of the season when he decided to hand over CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
