NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A woman who does not want to give her name says she was stunned after learning that her friend and neighbor Donna Hyman was killed Friday night.
Police say the 58-year-old was stabbed multiple times in her apartment on Hornell Loop. Officers say a 36-year-old was also found at the location with stab wounds.
Sources say the man is Hyman’s son.
“It seems very, very violent. I am surprised,” said neighbor Garnet Walker.
Her dog, a poodle named Gigi died after falling from the 11th-floor window, landing just steps from the building’s entrance.
“Her name was Gigi, such a beautiful, cute dog. I heard the dog was tossed out the window," said a neighbor.
Sources say the mother and son got into a dispute around 7 in the evening, but it is unclear why.
“We did not even know her son was maybe having problems. It is very tragic," said neighbor Carmen Gonzalez.
Another person who lives in the building told PIX11 News off camera Hyman's son was seen shirtless and bleeding before paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
People in the Starett city building complex say they never saw any trouble between them.
“Not only was he handsome. He was charming. I do not think anybody had an idea. Something went wrong, and it was probably in the making,” said a neighbor who wants to remain anonymous.
A law enforcement source says there is no history of domestic disputes at the apartment.
As of Saturday afternoon, no one has been arrested or charged for Hyman’s death both stabbings remain under investigation.
