CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Miki Sudo has won the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July women's hot dog eating competition on Thursday.
Sudo defended her nine-time win streak and broke the record for most hot dogs eaten during a competition with 51. Her previous record was 48.5 hot dogs.
Mayoi "Ebimayo" Ebihara won second place with 37 hot dogs, beating her own personal best of 33.5 hot dogs. Michelle Lesco was in third place.
"Fifty, it's a milestone and we're just going up from here," Sudo said after her win.
The men's competition will be held at 12:30 p.m.
