Man stabbed to death on Staten Island street: NYPD

STAPLETON, Staten Island (PIX11) -- A man was fatally stabbed in the chest on a Staten Island street Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Desuan Baker-Dunning, 32, was attacked near Bay and Wave streets in Stapleton at around 4:40 p.m., according to the NYPD. The victim was rushed to the hospital with a stab wound to the chest but could not be saved.

It was unclear what sparked the attack.

Authorities initially believed the suspect barricaded himself in a nearby residence but did not find him in the location, police said.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, police later said. There have been no arrests.
