Man stabbed in the leg in Midtown, suspect in custody: police

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN (PIX11) -- A 31-year-old man is recovering from a stab wound following an incident in Midtown Monday evening.

Police say he was stabbed in the upper left thigh around 5 p.m. on West 47th Street near 6th Avenue.

Both the victim and the suspect then ran into the 47-50 Rockefeller Center Subway station, officials say. Officers responded and located the victim. He was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Orlando Vasquez and charged him with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

It was not immediately clear what led to the stabbing but investigations are ongoing.
