QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was seen attacking another man on an LIRR train in Queens on Monday, according to a video posted to X.
The incident happened on the 3:22 p.m. train from Grand Central to Far Rockaway, according to the MTA. The video posted by @fijiforeignx showed two men fighting in the aisle and in the seats of the train.
Another man steps in, and he's thrown into the seats across from the fight before he pulls one man off the other, the video shows.
Astounded passengers are seen moving from the train car close to the doors. The bystander who intervened in the fight is seemingly trying to calm one of the men down, the video showed.
The bystander who intervened can be heard saying, "Get off of him."
The train was held for about 50 minutes while police and EMS responded to the scene, the MTA said.
The alleged slasher was arrested by police, according to the MTA. One person was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, according to the FDNY.
"Weapons have no place on trains, and we are grateful for the rapid response of NYPD officers who kept passengers safe and arrested the perpetrator," said MTA spokesperson Meghan Keegan.
It's unclear what led to the fight and slashing.
