Man slashed inside subway station in Brooklyn: NYPD

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man was slashed in the torso at the Smith Street and 9th Street subway station on Friday evening, according to the NYPD.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m.

The 29-year-old victim was walking up the escalators when he was approached by a male who slashed him in the torso with an unknown sharp object, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect fled towards the northbound platform, according to the NYPD.

Police released surveillance footage of the suspect. He is described as approximately 30 to 45 years old and is around 5'9'' and 160 pounds.
