MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A man was shot in the torso in Manhattan on Sunday night, police said.
The victim, 30, was injured when gunfire erupted near 27 West 20th St. in the Flatiron District at around 9:15 p.m., according to the NYPD. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police took a person of interest into custody and found a gun at the scene, authorities said. There have been no charges as of yet.
It was unclear what prompted the violence or if the incident happened inside or outside the location.
The shooting alarmed some residents who reported hearing multiple gunshots.
"(It was) incredibly loud, super loud. Very scary. (There was) six or more shots and lots of screaming," resident Layla Law-Gisiko told PIX11 News.
