Man punches State Trooper in the face in Nassau County: NYSP

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A New York State Police Trooper was assaulted while conducting a traffic stop on Thursday in Nassau County, police said.

The reported assault happened around 4:18 p.m. on the Southern State Parkway, according to NYSP.

New York State to pass bill to lower speed limits

The Trooper conducted the traffic stop for an expired Connecticut registration. The driver, Calith M. Hudson, 33, of Jamaica, was verbally combative and threw his license on the ground, police said.

Hudson ignored commands to stay in the vehicle and punched the Trooper in the face, according to police.

The two became involved in a physical altercation, during which several good Samaritans stopped and assisted the Trooper, according to the NYSP.

Feds warn NYPD to stop illegally parking police cruisers

Hudson was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.
