MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to shoving an 85-year-old man onto subway tracks in Manhattan last year, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
Brittan Jones, 30, got into an argument with the man, who was sleeping on a bench at the Rockefeller Center station, back on Nov. 15, 2023. Jones then shoved the victim onto the train tracks before fleeing the scene.
The FDNY, MTA, and NYPD helped get the man off the tracks. He was taken to a hospital for a hip fracture.
Jones, of Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted assault. He could be sentenced to seven years in prison and five years post-release supervision, according to officials.
“Today, Brittan Jones is facing accountability for shoving an 85-year-old man onto the subway tracks at the Rockefeller Center station,” said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “Every New Yorker deserves to be safe in our subway system, and those who jeopardize their safety will be held accountable.”
Jones will be sentenced on Dec. 18.
