Man hits taxi, pedestrian in attempt to avoid crash in Upper East Side: NYPD

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man struck a taxi head-on while trying to swerve away from a woman in the Upper East Side on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

It happened on York Avenue and East 87th Street around 9:28 p.m. Police said the 71-year-old driver of a Range Rover still crashed into the 30-year-old pedestrian after hitting the taxi.

The pedestrian was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition.

No charges have been filed against the driver as of Wednesday morning.
