BATH BEACH, Brooklyn (PIX11) --- The man found in a puddle of blood in a Brooklyn building was seen arguing with his girlfriend in a nearby park hours before he died, authorities said.

A resident found Maurice Freeman, 30, lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound in the thigh in the building vestibule at 1491 Shore Parkway in Bath Beach at around 5:15 a.m. Monday, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny. Freeman was rushed to the hospital, where he bled out just before 6 a.m.

Freeman and the woman were seen fighting in the park across the street at around 2:30 a.m. and again at 3:35 a.m. before the girlfriend drove off, Kenny said.

Investigators believe the victim was attacked in the park after finding a blood trail from the building to the park, officials said. Police are looking for the woman but are unsure of her involvement in the fatal incident.

"They have an extensive domestic violence history," Kenny said Tuesday at a briefing. "We still need to talk to her to see if it was in fact her involved in this incident."

The couple lived together in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and were in Brooklyn visiting friends. They were staying in the building where Freeman's body was found, police said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
