MELROSE, the Bronx (PIX11) --- A man was fatally stabbed in the neck during a fight between two Mexican gangs at a Bronx restaurant early Saturday, police said.
Baraquiel Castelan, 32, was at the bar at Chicanito at 435 East 153rd Street in Melrose when a brawl involving pool sticks broke out between the Cholo and Raza Loca gangs at around 3:30 a.m., according to the NYPD.
The suspect, a Raza Loca member, hid behind a door and waited for Castelan to pass him before plunging the knife into the known Cholo member's neck, rupturing an artery, police said. Castelan suffered a 10mm cut and died at the hospital.
The victim's friend was stabbed in the head and lip at the bar, police said. Another man was stabbed in the side at a bodega a couple of blocks away from the bar after he was asked if he was a Cholo member, police said.
The NYPD released a photo of the suspect sought in Castelan's stabbing. There have been no arrests.
