BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man was fatally shot in the head outside of a coffee shop in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, according to the NYPD.
The incident happened at 2:47 a.m. on Rockaway Avenue.
The victim, identified as Steven Battle, 45, of the Bronx, was trying to get his phone from the coffee shop when he was shot, according to sources. The coffee shop was open as it also operated as a nightclub.
Battle was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
Police say an unidentified individual fled the scene in a black Cadillac SUV. The suspect is described as a man with a slim build, braids, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, light-colored grey jeans, and black and white sneakers.
The NYPD released the following surveillance photo of the suspect.
