NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A 25-year-old man was arrested after being accused of fatally shooting a man he used to be a caregiver to 11 times in a Manhattan apartment, according to police.
Joseph Fulford allegedly shot Tyrone Swinton, 60, twice in the head, once in the neck, twice in the chest and five times in the back on Feb 29 around 11 a.m. on 116th Street, according to the NYPD. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Fulford was Swinton's caregiver for around five years after they met as part of the Boys and Girls Club. The two men had a falling out over Fulford's alleged use of drugs and bringing people unknown to Swinton inside his home. Fulford moved to Georgia for a couple of years before returning to New York City recently.
Swinton called his mom on the 29th and told her Fulford was back and "looked bad," according to police.
Police said Fulford was allegedly motivated to commit the violent crime over Swinton allegedly disrespecting his family and a dispute over drug use.
After performing a search warrant on Fulford's home, police said they found two pistols, an AR-15 rifle and a 9mm that Fulford allegedly told police was the murder weapon. Police said they have four 9mm shell casings they are waiting for lab results on if they match the gun found in Fulford's home.
Fulford is accused of murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, according to police.
