EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A man has died after being pushed onto subway tracks in East Harlem on Monday, according to police.
A 45-year-old man pushed another man onto the tracks in an unprovoked attack at the 125th Street station around 7 p.m., according to police.
The 125th Street subway station is the same location where, earlier in the day on Monday, NYPD Transit Chief Michael Kemper announced the NYPD would deploy hundreds of cops into dozens of New York City subway stations as part of an ongoing effort to combat fare evasion.
The MTA said the No. 5 train is experiencing severe delays in both directions. Northbound trains are running locally from Grand Central 42nd Street station to 125th Street station.
