Man falls for ‘high’ returns on investment loses Rs 45 lakh; 2 held

NAVI MUMBAI: The

Navi Mumbai police

arrested two individuals for allegedly deceiving a man of around

Rs 45 lakh

by enticing him with promises of high

investment returns

.
The accused, residents of Kamote,

Nilesh Arun Kingawale

(30) and

Sanjay Rambhau Patil

(48), reportedly engaged in fraudulent activities between February 5 and March 3.
The victim, drawn in by a fake share trading app offering profitable returns, transferred a total of Rs 44.7 lakh to various bank accounts.

Upon receiving no returns and facing avoidance from the culprits, the man approached the police on March 7.
Senior inspector Gajanan Kadam stated that the police apprehended the duo, seizing multiple chequebooks, debit cards, mobile phones and SIM cards from Patil's location.
Patil and Kingawale are allegedly connected to about ten cybercrimes, with approximately Rs 18.51 lakh frozen in associated bank accounts.
