JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens (PIX11) -- A man crossing the street was struck by a vehicle Monday evening, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened around 6:12 p.m. around 35th and 82nd Ave.

The man was hit by a vehicle making a left turn on 35th Ave, police say. He was taken to a local hospital.

The driver, a 45-year-old, stayed at the scene. The individual is an NYPD traffic agent and was driving in a department vehicle, according to sources.
