Man charged with raping girl, 11, at Long Island hotel: police

WESTBURY, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl on Long Island in February was arrested, police said on Friday.

Stephen Vickers-Griffiths, 35, was charged with rape, criminal sexual act, attempted criminal sexual act, and endareing the welfare of a child in connection with the assault, authorities said.

The incident occured on Feb. 26 at around 4:30 p.m. at the Pines Motor Lodge located at 101 Taylor Ave., authorities report. The suspect taken into police custody the next day after the incident, authorities said.

Detectives are requesting anyone who may have been victimized by the above defendant to contact the Special Victims Squad Detectives at 516-573-4022 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
