STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man allegedly walked into a Macy’s at the Staten Island Mall Sunday, asked to try on a $27,500 ring, then stole it, police said.
Officers responded to a grand larceny call at 2:24 p.m. Authorities said the man walked into Macy’s at 2655 Richmond Ave. and asked to see a ring.
The employee placed a ring valued at $27,500 on the counter. The suspect grabbed the ring and fled the location on foot, running southbound on Platinum Avenue, police said.
The suspect is described as a man with a beard. He is believed to be around 5 feet 5 inches tall and was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with a graphic on it and black sneakers.
No injuries were reported. A full investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
