BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was arrested early Friday morning after a 19-year-old woman was fatally stabbed and her twin sister was injured outside a Brooklyn bodega, according to sources.
Veo Kelly, 20, turned himself in with his attorney present at 8 a.m., sources said. Kelly was previously identified as the suspect in the stabbing of Samyia Spain by authorities.
The stabbing happened on Sunday near 4th Avenue and St. Marks Place in Park Slope. Kelly allegedly encountered the 19-year-old sisters and got aggressive with them when they rejected his advances, according to authorities.
Kelly is accused of arguing with them, police said. A man the sisters were with got into a fight with the suspect, according to authorities.
That's when Spain was stabbed in the neck and chest, police said. She was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police previously said they had video footage that showed Kelly in the bodega before the stabbing. He was attending a nearby party and believed to be drunk before he went to the bodega, according to authorities.
Police said Kelly had one prior arrest for robbery. Detectives found the clothes Kelly was wearing the night of the stabbing in his apartment, but did not recover the knife used, according to authorities.
