Man arrested after shots fired in the air in Queens: sources

JAMAICA, Queens (PIX11) – A man was arrested Sunday night after shots were fired in the air in Queens, according to sources.

The incident happened near 107th Avenue and 164th Street in Jamaica around 9:30 p.m. Officers said they saw a 36-year-old man with a fireman enter an apartment building, according to authorities.

He was eventually arrested outside of the building, police said. Sources told PIX11 News a juvenile was also taken into custody but has since been released.

Sources said investigators believe the initial shots were fired into the air and no one was injured. Police are waiting for the emergency service unit to execute a search warrant at some point Monday morning, according to sources.

No weapon has been recovered, but sources said it's believed the firearm in question is inside the building.

Charges are pending against the man, according to authorities.
