EAST HARLEM, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police have arrested a man in connection to the rape of a 10-year-old girl in East Harlem, according to the NYPD.
Drequan Drayton-Howard was taken into custody on Wednesday, police said. He's been charged with rape, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, according to authorities.
The incident happened near Third Avenue and East 122nd Street on Jan. 6 around 9 p.m., police said. The man allegedly met the girl through an online app, according to authorities.
Police sources told PIX11 News he connected with the girl on the online dating app “Bumble” before he met her in person. Those sources said the suspect then took the girl to a nearby apartment, where he raped her.
Police said the girl was taken by EMS to a hospital. The suspect fled the scene, according to authorities.
